Text to vector is crashing my computer (Black screen )

Dear all,

Everytime I use the Text to Vector Graphic my computer crashes (black screen and automatic reboot), no questions asked. It always happens at the same specific generating process. It feels like the text to Vector feature is using far to many computer resourses.  I am working with Win.11, Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080, RAM 64, Intel Core i9-14900KF.  Bios, adobe, windows, and drivers are up to date.

I reinstalled Illustrator and allowed me to generate one graphic but when I tried again the system crashed at the same point.  This is not happening anywhere else in Adobe (e.g. Photoshop, Bridge, etc...) nor in other softwares.  It ONLY happens with Text to Vector.  Something is wrong here.  Please help

Sergio

Correct answer Sergio James

Maybe you can try the Bridge forum if there is someone who can help you with the crash? https://community.adobe.com/t5/bridge/ct-p/ct-bridge?page=1&sort=latest_replies&filter=all&lang=all&tabid=discussions

It seems I got the solution to my computer problem crashing all the time with the Illustrator's Text to Vector:  My power box was not powerful enough.  I replaced it from 700w to 1000w and now works very smooth.  I actually found the solution using Chat GPT.  I asked: what may be the computer problem if it chrashes and reboots without warning?  It gave me 3 posibilities, but it said most likely is power.  Et voila!

Hello @Sergio James,

We understand how frustrating it can be to encounter crashes in the middle of work. Would you mind trying the suggestions shared in this help article (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/fix-crash-on-launch-issues.html) and checking if it helps? Also, kindly submit the crash report using your Adobe email address and share it here for quick tracking. Steps are shared here: (https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/crash-next-steps.html). We appreciate your time and patience in helping us resolve this issue.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks,

Anubhav

Thanks Anubhav,

The crash goes directly to a blackscreen followed by a system reboot.  No "crash report" appears in order to send a report to adobe. The system failure happens 5 seconds after a request to AI to generate an image is entered (when the three images start to show in the AI Generation window) .  The AI crash is very consistant, always at the same point, no matter is one request "an apple" or Picasso's "Guernica".

I will send the System info. to the email given to see if Adobe can spot where the conflict with AI is.

Regards

Sergio

Maybe contact Customer Care and have them take a look at it.

Thanks Monika,  I tried but I only get a virtual help.  What puzzels me it that everything works smothly, the only feature that crashes my computer is Illustrator Text to Vector tool.  I did a clean reinstallation of Nvidia, and illustrator.  Still there, perhaps I should unistall it and install the previous version?

there aren't a lot of previous versions that have text to vector. did it work in 28.0 and then stopped in 28.2?
