Text Variables / Identifier question

I cannot find a script or a function in Illustrator that will do what i want. What i'm wanting to do is create a Text box and place it in a certain spot that has the File Name on it is there a way to do this? I work in printing i would like the File name to automatically be added in a text box that i place on the edge of the Printable Frame. Text variables in INDD i think would do this but i am using Illustrator to set these files up. Can illustrator even do such a thing?

You can use a script created by Wolfgang Reszel. It can be downloaded from Illustrator Script to add a Date and Time to your file » Blog » FashionClassroom.com

To use the script you must first have a text frame selected with the black Selection tool.
