The eyedropper tool isn't sampling transparency in Illustrator 29.7.1

Expected Behaviour: The eyedropper will sample fill and stroke colors with transparency with the correct settings.

Actual Bahaviour: The eyedropper samples the correct color, but ignores transparency, even when the settings indicate it should.

To reproduce: Ensure that the eyedropper tool is set to sample all appearances. Make two shapes. Give one a different fill color and set its transparency to 30%. Select the other shape. Switch to the eyedropper tool and click on the semi-transparent shape.

Frequency: always

Impact: Minor, but annoying. Requires manually adjusting the transparency value after using the eyedropper, which can be time-consuming when applying styles across multiple objects.

Hi @Jeremy28121925wk2l,

I tried the same steps on my end with Illustrator 29.7.1 and the eyedropper tool is picking up both the fill color and the transparency correctly when the Eyedropper Options are set to sample all appearances. You could try resetting the preferences as explained here: https://adobe.ly/45nFHmP. Make sure to take a backup before resetting. If the issue still occurs after that, please test in a newly created document to rule out any file-specific problems. If it persists even there, try using a new local admin user account on your Mac: https://adobe.ly/4oyTfF1.

Looking forward to hearing how it goes.

Abhishek
