Hello everyone,

So I was working on my project and suddenly my laptop went bluescreen.

When I try to open my project, Illustrator said "The file is damaged and could not be repaired".

I tried to find recovered file, but is gone. What should I do?:(

*I tried to change type file to .pdf and open it, but it's the same. "The file is damaged....."

*I tried to make a new project in Illustrator and go to File > Place, but it's the same. "The file is damaged...."

hanifalc,

Hopefully, you have something (backup) to fall back upon if it is impossible to rescue the latest and greatest.

Here are some websites where you can see whether it can rescue the actual file, and if it can, you may pay for a subscription to have it done,

http://www.recoverytoolbox.com/buy_illustrator.html

http://markzware.com/adobe-software/fix-illustrator-file-unknown-error-occurred-pdf2dtp-file-recovery/

http://www.illustrator.fixtoolbox.com/

http://www.erepairillustrator.com/

As far as I remember, the first one is for Win and the second one is for Mac, while the third and fourth one should be for both.

Here are a few pages about struggling with it yourself:

Hello Jacob,

First, I didn't know that there is an app to fix damaged Illustrator file haha.

I tried all the file fixer you gave. And all of them said "The file is damaged too hard".

I can't find my backup file too.

Guess I will start from the scratch . Thanks for helping me Jacob!

You are welcome, hanifalc.

It is always recommended to create backups with different names regularly, and to store backups in more than one place/way.

And also to save often.

If you have the Cloud, you can also set it to save copies with all the changes,

and here are some other suggestions,

And good luck.
