The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [UNKN]

Dear Adobe Community Support,

I am encountering an issue while opening Illustrator files. Each time I try, I receive the following error message:
"The operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. [UNKN]"
Despite this error, I am still able to open the files, but I am concerned it might affect my work. Could you please check this issue and provide a solution as soon as possible?

Would you mind sharing more details, like the version of the OS/Illustrator, if Illustrator behaves this way with all files or files from a specific folder and a sample AI file, so I can better assist you?

Hi Anubhav,

I'm experiencing a persistent issue with a specific file in Adobe. Here’s a breakdown of the problem:

  1. When I open this particular file, an error message appears. Errors also show up while working on it, saving, and reopening.
  2. If I move elements from this file into another file, the new file also starts exhibiting issues, eventually becoming corrupted.
  3. This problem seems isolated to this one file—other files work fine until elements from the problematic file are introduced.
  4. Two different errors appear: one immediately when opening the file and another after 2–3 minutes.
  5. The issue is not system-specific. The same errors occur when opening the file on a different system.

I’d appreciate any insights on resolving this. Has anyone encountered a similar issue or found a workaround?
