Question

There isn't eneugh available memory (RAM)

Hi!

My Illustrator shows me these error messages...

'We've hit a roadblock! There isn't enough available memory (RAM).' 'There is not enough available memory to process the appearance of an object.'

I've already updated my Illustrator app and the graphics card to the latest version, reset the Illustrator's preferences, and matched the primary and secondary disks in 'plug-ins & scratch disks' to the same one.

I appreciate that somebody can help me solve this issue.

Thank you!

Hi @ShashoBarron,

Thanks for sharing the details and screenshots.

Could you confirm the exact Illustrator version and your operating system? In the meantime, please try turning off GPU Performance under Preferences > Performance and check if the issue still occurs. If it does, test in Safe Mode to rule out third-party software conflicts: https://adobe.ly/47l5TBj

A short screen recording of your workflow would also be very helpful for reproducing and investigating the issue further.

Looking forward to your update.

Hi Abhishek,

Illustrator Version 29.7.1 (64bit)

I deactivated the GPU as you mentioned, but nothing new. I realized that the effect sometimes is applied and sometimes not (watch the video attached).

How to do all that you mentioned about safe mode in a Windows environment, because the instructions provided in the link you shared are for MacOS.

Thank you.

How much RAM do you have in your machine?

Can you split up your file in smaller parts?

Can you use Linked instead of Embedded images?

Hey Ton!

Thank you a lot for taking the time to write.

It has 16MB (see file attached).

On the other hand, aside from my laptop's specs, I consider this must be a bug or something like that, because the app was running well before, even with the same file. Also, in terms of splitting my design, it still occurs when applying the effect (3D Classic) with a simple shape in vector instead of an embedded image.

Thank you for your guidance. 🙂

A simple classic 3D shape should not give you this message.

So there could be something else, hope that Abhishek can help you detect what is causing the problem.
