Hi

Ive got the same Issue with Illustrator and with my Mac I can ONLY update to 29.5.1.
I bring in Tiif files and they disappear or make black lines! I have to keep redoing work. Now Im forced to only use Photoshop for most of my work.
So you only fixing it now with the new update? I cannot afford to buy a New MAC now just to be able to work in Illustrator. Im paying for Illustrator and my Mac is not so old. Is there any way they can fix 29.5.1 which a lot of people are using? 2 of My co-workers got the same problem,

Hi, thank you for the reply

I don’t think I can give you the file specifically, since what I’m going through is very specific but I attached a screenshot of what’s happening as I was going to answer this.

As you can see, there are some .tif missing, and there are some still available. The missing is from this current version (I am not sure whether its really the current version or before), and the other available .tif images are from previous iteration of the file.

- And yes, i switched between GPU dan CPU preview and its doing nothing
- And yes, using File > Place does solves / prevent this issue, but that is not the point. The point of me doing this way years ago until now that it’s very efficient of my workflow. Exporting hundreds of PNG from Photoshop and renaming it 1 by 1, and placing it on to my file will certainly bottleneck my effectiveness (since it hasn’t been an issue until now)
- If I am not mistaken, Photoshop layers dragged and dropped to Illustrator will be automatically made them .tif and embedded, not linked (?) because this is why I always drag and drop so that I minimalize the risk of missing links

I am on the latest MacOS Tahoe 26.5.1, and on Adobe Illustrator version 30.6

Thank you for the reply, and looking forward to this.

Do you use File > Place or Drag and Drop?

Hello @L26554167zbb1,

I tried replicating this behavior on my end but could not. Could you share a link to a sample file after uploading it to a file-sharing service, so I can check it on my end?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I have the same problem now with version 30.5.0, and its very frustrating, i keep redoing my entire work. If you want to replicate this behavior, do some editing in Photoshop, and drag and drop the layers to your Adobe Illustrator. It has been fine all these years, and now its starting to have bugs.

Hi @Setiawanwkwk ,

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue. I understand how frustrating it must be, especially if this workflow has been working fine for you until recently.

I tried reproducing the behavior you described on my end using Illustrator 30.6 (the latest version available to me), but I wasn't able to reproduce the issue yet.

In the meantime, could you please try the following and let me know if you notice any difference?

  • Switch between GPU and CPU Preview by going to View > Preview on CPU (or toggle back to GPU Preview) to check whether the issue is related to GPU rendering.

  • Instead of dragging and dropping the Photoshop layers/TIFFs into Illustrator, try using File > Place and see if the behavior is the same.

  • If you're working with TIFF files, please try embedding the TIFF instead of keeping it linked, as some users have reported that linked TIFFs are more prone to preview corruption. For reference, see:

To help us investigate further, could you also share the following?

  • Your operating system details (including the macOS version).

  • A few screenshots or a screen recording demonstrating the issue.

  • A sample Illustrator (.ai) file along with the TIFF file(s) that consistently reproduce the problem.

If the files are confidential, feel free to share them with us via DM using any public cloud storage service, such as Google Drive, Dropbox, or a similar file-sharing service.

These details will help us test the exact workflow on our end and investigate the issue further.

Looking forward to your update.
