Toolbar and Panels not working in Sonoma 14.1

After updating to the latest OS clicking on toolbar or panels switches to Finder, as if they were transparent (click through).  This affects both Illustrator 2024 and 2023.

I'm experiencing the same problem, on both Illustrator 27 and 28, after updating to macOS 14.1.

Additionally CreativeCloud did not recognize that I had already installed Illustrator 27 which lead to not having migrated any of the preferences when installing Illustrator 28.

A workaround for the panels issue: I noticed that the panels affected are mainly the ones in top of every panel column, so I placed other (minimized) panels I never use above them. This turns the affected panels usable again.

Better workaround: don't collect all panels in one giant superpanel but make single panel columns instead. You might struggle a bit until you will have "liberated" all panels from the super one but that did the job for me. Obviously also single panels should work which would be much more annoying.

I apologize for the inconvenience you're facing with Illustrator's behavior on macOS 14.1. It appears that this issue is related to changes in the macOS update.

 

We are aware of this problem, and a bug has been logged with Apple. Our team is actively working with them on resolving it.

 

In the meantime, a potential workaround is to enable the application frame, or you can try the suggestion shared by @grafili.

However, I understand that this might not be an ideal solution.

Yo tengo el mismo problema, mientras se soluciona he activado el application frame para poder usar la aplicacion, asi funcionan los paneles de herramientas

I was having the same problem. Right click on the top of the toolbar, then remove the toolbar once and put it back in place, the problem will be solved.

Thanks for the tip. Sadly doesn't work for me – and typcally on a really busy week of client work :-((((((((((((( The dread of the Adobe upgrade when you are tring to earn a living strikes again....

This issue is being discussed for some days in this forum. I would assume that there is a report in https://illustrator.uservoice.com that you can vote for. Then you will be notified of the progress on the issue.
