Transparent strikethrough text

Hello,

I want to create a transparent strikethrough like the one in the image (which I did in InDesign, but for some reason I can't manage to do it again, although I've tried using the pathfinder tool). What would be the easiest way (in InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop)?

Also, would there be an easy way to keep the format while changing the text underneath? Or would I just have to do the whole process everytime?

Thank you!

mirunam,

To convert white strokes to transparent areas you may either (B) may be more straightforward/relevant):

A) Change the strokes to transparent and then use the Knockout Group in the Transparency palette,

or you may:

B) Keep them white and use Opacity Masks (click Make Opacity Mask in theTransparency palette flyout with Clip unticked and Invert Mask ticked).

You may read more about both here,

and see an exquisite screenshot by Ton (with another colour than white) in the first post  here,
