Transparent vector file looks different when copy-pasted to a different background in Illustrator

So I bought this smoke vector image (left). When I copy and paste it to my own file it looks different. I also tried copying the smoke with the background but it also changes after pasting it into my own file. The transparency of both images are the same. Some smoke parts are 50% some 70%.

Anyone knows what I am missing?

Eu tive problemas mesmo copiando entre documentos do mesmo modo de cor, e consegui resolver apenas mudando o "document raster effects settings" para "transparent"

Thank you. I was indeed copying from rgb to cmyk.

Anyone know has an idea for a workaround beause need my file in cmyk. I tried exporting in png and then placing inside my file but it did not work.

Transparent effect such as theone you are seeing almost always depend heavily on certain blend modes that typically don't work well with CMYK color mode.

Basically you don't have a lot of options here other than overhauling that file competely.

Maybe... flatten the purchased file, THEN convert to CMYK. If it looks ok, now place the converted file. (Copy and paste is best avoided! It adds extra uncertainty).

also check if bought documents are using the same profile, go to the lowest part of Illustrator and click on the little

Are you copying from RGB to CMYK by any chance..? Some of the filters/effects used may change its appearance.

Hi there,

Thanks for reaching out. I see the image looks different in the second screenshot. In addition to the suggestions shared by Sam, you can also refer to the steps shared on this similar discussion: Illustrator changes colors when importing an image

Let us know if that helps or if you need further assistance.
