trim view doesn't include bleeds

I'm sharing a pdf with a printer to print a book cover design I made. There are pieces that overlap the artboard so I usually just use the trim view option. But, the bleeds dont show in this view. Should I go through the laborious process of removing every piece that hangs over the artboard, or should I use a clipping mask over everything... thoughts?
