"trimming" embedded image

Help please. I am designing a wedding invitation that has a design - the background design which is an embedded image. I do not want to "vectorise" it, but the image overlaps (tropical monstera leaf) the boundary of my card. Is there any way to trim this since I cannot use a clipping mask please?

    Hi kmgraphic,

with the latest version of Illustrator ( CC2018 ) you can:

    right click > crop image

    Or

choose in the control bar (while your image is selected) the button crop image

Thanks pixxxel schubser - sorry I took so long to acknowledge. I don't see any such command like that when I right click, and I am using Illustrator 22.0.1? I am obviously missing something?
