Trouble with duplicated stroke not in the same spot as original

Hi, I'm having trouble figuring out why the burgundy stroke is showing on the top of the original text, whereas the pink stroke is angled to be to the bottom left of the original text. The burgundy stroke is duplicated from the pink stroke. I've shown the transform tabs for both strokes in the attachments. Thank you for any help!

yeah that makes sense. that helped - I kept forgetting to select. thank you. There was also just a problem with that one burgundy stroke layer itself.
