Question

Type Hebrew characters

I have been an Adobe Illustrator user for alomost 40 years. It has never been so frustrating to get answers to a very simple question. I want to enter a very short phrase in Hebrew into a document I am designing for a customer. When I asked for instructions on how to type in Hebrew (I have many Hebrew fonts installed) I am simply told to "Show Indic Options." THAT CHANGES NOTHING! in either character or paragraph windows. The online Adobe Illustrator instructions simply DO NOT APPLY to my current CC subscription (I have the latest version of all CC apps). What seems to be the problem?

Hi @Jack Mayer,

I completely understand how frustrating this must be. To work with Hebrew text in Illustrator, the app needs to be installed with the Middle Eastern version. Reference article that walks through how to find and install the Hebrew or Arabic editions of InDesign or Illustrator. Could you please confirm the language set in your Creative Cloud preferences? I'd also suggest trying the steps in that article and letting me know if it helps. If the issue continues, please share your exact Illustrator version and operating system, and if possible a short screen recording showing what happens when you type in Hebrew, so I can take it up with the team.

Looking forward to your update.

Thanks for trying, but following your suggestions changed nothing!

Hi @Jack Mayer,

Thanks for getting back. Could you confirm which operating system you're working on and share the exact Illustrator version installed? It would also be really helpful if you could share a short screen recording showing what happens when you type Hebrew in your document, so I can check this more closely with the team.

Looking forward to your update.
