Why do this TYPE is called OBJECT LEVEL?

You select the text as an object when you use a Selection arrow (A or V).

You select the text as characters when you use the Type tool (T).

The text object is like a group.

When you enter in it, you get the characters and they are like the parts of a group.

 

But where did you read that?

The text object (Type) is the group level.

The Characters are the object level
