Question

Type on a path not selecting by point...

Hi all,

I'm having an issue since upgrading to Illustrator 2019, I'm on a mac. When trying to select a line of text by the point (not in a type box) it just keeps deselecting. I can grab it by the line, but not the point anymore. This is extremely frustrating because I use smart guides and use the point for snapping and centering and aligning individual lines of text... anyone else having this problem...

Also, these new versions are basically suck... why is every time they upgrade thew applications gets worse and worse...

Jason

I have the same problem. And it's also very difficult to drag and select. The cursor keeps jumping.

I found that holding down the shift key will keep it active. But true, it is a pain.

Please check the preferences if it is set to "select text object by path"

Yeah, this isn't the problem, I don't want to be able to grab the type anywhere, I want to be able to grab it by the point only so I can snap it to things for alignment and precision... I've been working this way for almost 20 years and I've always had "Type Object Selection by Path Only" checked because I need this feature... it just doesn't work anymore, I can select it by the line and move it, but not the point anymore...

    Thanks for the suggestion though...
