Type on a path tool has disappeared

I'm trying to type on a path in Illustrator CC, but the tool I want has disappeared.

I've attached a screen shot of the options I currently have showing, but no straight forward type on a path.

Can anyone help?

Try Window > Tools > Extended.

But actually, you don't even need the tool. You can use the Type tool. If it's a closed path, just press Alt when you click on it.

I don 't have an extended option, just basic and advanced - it is already on advanced.

However, the alt option works, so thanks for that.

And I have a German version and I tend to forget whatever that option is called in whatever language people use 😉

Can you try and reset the thing? If that doesn't work, you can either manually configure the toolbar or reset preferences. https://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/using/tools.html
