Type on path moves when resizing objects

Seriously, what the F is going on with this issue. It happens all the time, then it happens sometimes, then it doesn’t happen at all, and then… surprise! It’s happening again!

Come on, Adobe! FIX THIS ANNOYING BUG!!!!!!!!!!

I had this happen to me too and it frustrated me so much. On mine, I was able to keep it the same by using the Scale tool (S) and clicking and dragging or double clicking on the toolbar and manually entering it in. Hope this works for some of yall. 

I can confirm that after several months of this issue having been fixed, IT’S NOW BACK AGAIN!! And it’s as infuriating as ever, considering it was a major problem for a while, then was fixed, and now, after successive AI updates, it’s back. I have been experiencing intermittent issues with it recently (sometimes it happens, sometimes not) and then I saw that an update to Illustrator was available, so I updated hoping this would solve this issue. It did not.

JUST updated to 30.6 today.

On the left is the default graphic. The right depicts the state of the graphic after I shift-click and drag outward the bottom right handle, and then release my mouse button:

 

PLEASE for the love of god fix this once and for all, because, as someone who designs a lot of badges with type on a patch, it’s driving me absolutely CRAZY.

Same issue here. Just experiencing it for the first time. Not a hardcore text-on-path tool user anyway…
I have a text on a circle path. As soon as I move it, it flips inside out.
Fun fact, I have another text on a circle path on the same graphic which isn’t affected by the issue.
Tried to reset preferences, issue stays.
I have a Macbook pro with macOS monterey, using Illustrator 2025, latest update.

I experience this all the time too. I'm also a packaging designer and often use type on a path. Th emost frustrating thing is the lack of being able to undo the move. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE fix this bug.

I just ran into this after using Illustrator for over two decades. My situation was slightly different. Every time I moved a path with type, the type would flip or change position. Ultimately I changed the font color and it remained stable enough that I could work with it. It makes no sense but allowed me to get through an otherwise impossble task and maintain design integrity.

I can confirm that in 28.7.1, the issue still persists. I have never experienced this issue until yesterday, and I was using whatever the previous release of Illustrator was. Since I had never experienced this phenomenon before, I checked CC to see if there was an Illustrator update, which there was. So I updated to 28.7.1, thinking the bug had been resolved, but it's still there. And Undo doesn't work in this situation.

What happens if you add an independent oversize nostroke nofill circle outside each outermost circle, or just an oversize rectangle for all the circles, include those/that in the Artwork Group, and then ShiftClickDrag (and maybe hold Alt/Option to scale from the centre to avoid moving the whole thing?
