We have some designs that were using a certian fonts are changing between versions of illustrator. When we set the font in 2021 and before it is setting the font with visibly more kerning and on this one font in particular is changing from lowercase to uppercase which is changing the the look.

This is not happening when creating new elements.

Is this a something we can fix?

Can you please show screenshots?

What kind of text objects are they? Path text?

The typesetting engine receives changes every now and then and then also you might see changes in text flow in your files. When saving files down to other versions or when opening old files in newer versions, you sometimes get warnings that tell you about it.

Pick the one you like, do a package and then distribute that/those fonts to the other users/computers, making sure they delete their versions first... Caveat, for cross platform this is only going to work with Open Type fonts, you may get lucky with True Type working too.

Yeah this will not work for me as we all use a type client so it is not variations of font it is the same font reacting two different ways in two different versions. It is happens on all our computers even when we use both versions to do it. As it stands we are outlining it in 2020 and then using it elsewhere.

When you mention "type client" is that referring to a font management application?

I assume the two different versions of Adobe Illustrator are being used on two different computers? Is that correct? If so are the two computers running the same operating system (Windows or Mac OSX)?

Which typeface is being used where you are seeing these kerning changes? There are lots of variables in this category. Are the two computers using the same exact font files? What font format is being used (TrueType, Type 1, OpenType, OTF Variable, etc)? Well known typefaces, such as Futura for example, have multiple versions from multiple type companies. They'll all have very slight differences from each other, from how the glyphs are drawn to the letter spacing built into the font files.

So the two different illustrators are both on my machine and we as a company use a type client for fonts and are all on the same OS operating system using the same fonts on all our machines. This glitch is happening on every computer i have tried.

Our main culprit is Marujo Regular (that is the one changing caps) which is an 'OpenType - PS' font. We also only have one variation of the font so it is not me using one and someone else using another.
