Unable to change font color when it's on grayscale

This used to be a glitch where you have to change a gray font to RGB to change the color.

Now its not even changing at all.

When I try to change the color, its ffffff.

So I change it again to RGB from Grayscale, change the color and save it.

When I open the file it's back to ffffff and repeat the same solution.

Is this another glitch? Or unresolved 5 year old glitch?

    I'm having the same issue with the gradiant tool. I try to change it to color and it just stays black and white.

    Yeah that doesn't work. Like I said, that's what I use to do. I change it to RGB, and slide the palette and change the color.

    Now, when i open the file, its aways back to grayscale.

    Also, if a text is in color rgb, and I slide the palette to a shade of gray, does the color mode automatically change to grayscale? I think it does which is an editing issue for my use because i'm constantly sliding between color and gray.

    Apply a colored swatch first and then change the color? Does that work?
