Question

Unable to "disassemble/manipulate/alter" Stock Illustrator Image

NEWBIE here...

I'm assuming it's possible.

I would like to take a stock image (crest with banner & text)) and keep some of it, and add other parts, etc.

When I open the 1st image, it appears the only thing I can do is change the proportion and size.

Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks for your help!

The file is only available as a JPEG:

There is no practical way to disassemble or edit this in Illustrator. Or even in Photoshop really. Kind of a pointless image.

Indeed. An I've discovered there is no identical AT or EPS file. Thanks everybody! Will-do as suggested and may return if there are further/new issues that arise.

Which file format is it?

An AI file? Or an EPS? Or something else?

How do you get it into Illustrator? You will need to open it: File > Open.

Hello @michaelm101,

Thanks for reaching out. As Monika suggested, the stock file should not be a JPEG/PNG (raster file) if you want to edit it in Illustrator. You may also want to explore the Tutorials (https://adobe.ly/4dMCUqW) and User Guide (https://adobe.ly/4bkzF8t) website to check if they help with your creative journey in Illustrator.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or need assistance. We'd be happy to help.

Thanks,
Anubhav
