Unable to launch Illustrator

Whenever I open my Illustrator, I get the crash message "Adobe Illustrator quit unexpectedly." - even though I closed it myself, it did not crash.

Sorry to hear about the problem you are facing. In order to assist you further we need a few details like:

  • Exact version of Illustrator and the OS
  • Since when have you been facing this problem?
  • Are you prompted for a Crash Report? If yes, could you share it by following this article.
    While submitting the crash, report please use the same email address, with which you are signed in on this community. This will help us find the crash report and help accordingly.

 

In addition to these steps you could try launching Illustrator in Safe Mode and share your observations with us.

If it's performing okay other than that, try a prefs reset...

    It is performing okay, it's just really annoying.

    Try actually deleting the prefs file instead of having AI do it. Quit Illy first, delete file, restart Illy.
