I am working on a sewing pattern on Adobe illustrator, and would like to add seam allowance of 1.5cm to the pattern. However, when I try to use the offset path key, it is going all wonky and not creating the offset. I am not able to group this either. I am new to illustrator and I am stuck at this part. Thanks in advance for the help. Olive
Olive, in your case, make sure your clothing is a closed shape.
You can check by looking in Document Info window>Objects>Paths
Here I redrew your pattern. I recolored so you can see the different shapes and what is connected and what’s not connected. The offset works as expected.
