Unable to permanently disable the in-menu font previews in Illustrator CC 2019.

I've been having this issue ever since the initial release of Illustrator CC 2019.

The box "Enable in-menu font previews" is unticked in my settings and the list for recent fonts is set to zero. Despite this the font previews are enabled every time I open Illustrator with a new or old document, even though the box is indeed still unticked in my settings. This is getting on my nerves as it decreases performance when you work with a large amount of typefaces.

How can I make the previews permanently disabled? Seems to be a bug with the software itself. I've reinstalled Illustrator CC 2019 numerous times and also removed saved presets and preferences each time.

The Preferences setting seems to be able to turn it off in the Control and Character panel, but leaves it On in the Properties panel.

Looks like something to mention here:

Hi there,

I am extremely sorry about the trouble. As Ton suggested, please post your feedback at Adobe Illustrator Feedback form.

Along with that, I would suggest if you can reach us via chat support for a live troubleshooting session: Contact Customer Care as you have already tried resetting and reinstalling Illustrator. This way we will be able to look into the problem and forward it to the concerned team.

Regards,

Srishti

Did you already try resetting the preferences?

I believe that I've done that a number of times when I uninstall and reinstall. I choose the option to remove the preferences in the Creative Cloud application when uninstalling Illustrator. Unless there's another way to do it? With each fresh install I have the default settings and preferences and the issue still persists.
