Unable to save ai files on Mac

Since the Illustrator update 6 days ago, I am unable to save ai files. I get a message box:

 

Illustrator tried, but could not save the file "File Name". Click "Learn More" to try alternate options for saving your file.

Once I click on Learn More I am taken to: https://helpx.adobe.com/au/illustrator/kb/troubleshoot-file-save-issues.html

I've restarted my computer, which has helped with previous issues however, it has not helped. I can save files to pdf format & export to jpg. Using Mac OS Monterey 12.3. 

 

Any help is appreciated!

Hi @michelleb1674,

 

We are sorry for the trouble. This issue has been fixed in the latest Illustrator update, v26.2.1, released yesterday. I would request you to turn on the "Save in background" setting after updating Illustrator and let us know how it goes.

    Try to turn OFF Preferences > File Handling > Save in Background.
