Understanding Ray Length Calculation in Adobe Illustrator's Flare Tool

"I would like to understand how the ray lengths are calculated in the Flare Tool in Adobe Illustrator. Additionally, I would like to know how the longest ray is determined in comparison to the other rays. Could you please provide an explanation with an example?"

Instead of clicking and dragging to create a flare, just click. You'll get the tool options where you can experiment with the tool’s options.

 

You won’t find many people here who use it. It is perhaps the most useless feature in the program.
