UnDocked Window

Dear Everyone,

I have an online student whose Illustrator window is undocked (see image below) and nothing I have suggested is helping. She doesn't see a blue outline when clicking and dragging the window up like it should. Her application frame shows up. I keep thinking it's a glitch or a preference.... I'm out of ideas - anyone?

Thanks!!

Chava

I found the answer to this on another thread.  I have been searching for weeks on how to fix this, but here is what i found that finally fixed it

on menu bar click on windows > then click on application frame

instantly popped the window back where it belongs.

Tell her that she needs to drag her mouse to the drop zone and not the title bar.

Have her move the Tools panel and see if she can move it back and see the blue line / drop zone and not just leave it on the ruler.

Make sure it's not user error first. Can you take over her monitor or watch her as she tries to move other panels around?

Thank you so much! I tried these things also, but it looks like one of the other suggestions I thought I did now worked!

What was it that you tried that worked? I am a new to adobe and have only used this program for a couple of weeks.

Thanks much, Michael - I'm believe so, I do remember trying the Arrange options, using the Tab/F key.... But I just asked her to try the Consolidate option again. The Tab/F key actually worked, but just for the moment - a new document undocked again.

Preferences > User interface: is "Open documents as tabs" checked?

Thank you so much! Pretty sure I remember trying that also - I went through all the preferences, but again, I've just written to the student to be sure.

Did you have her go to Window>Arrange>Consolidate All Windows?

That option is "grayed" out for me.
