Univers font "missing" in Adobe Illustrator CC

November I had CC suite of software installed to replace my CS6 software.  We use Univers fonts and it works great in InDesign but I get missing error messages in Adobe Illustrator for the same font.  When creating new text, I select Univers 57 Condensed from the drop down menu and the name gets replaced with Univers* and Condensed-90ms-RKSJ-H*.  Our IT staff does not know what is happening and other Adobe Illustrator users are still on CS6.  Is this a bug?  Or could someone help?

Maybe this old topic helps (a little):

Helvetica 90ms-RKSJ-H infecting our Illustrator files

Tom, Thank you for the link!  This long thread was helpful to give me the idea of completely changing the Univers font to something entirely different. I then saved the file, closed Adobe Illustrator CC to clear the font cache, reopened the file and changed the fonts back to the Univers fonts which fixes the file.

Which system?

What kind of font is that? OTF?

Which font manager?

Have you tried cleaning font caches?

Windows 7 Enterprise.

Here is a link to the font...

https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/linotype/univers/

How do I determine the font manager?

And how do I clear font caches?

Adobe Illustrator CC if working fine for new files but any file created

with CS6 will have missing fonts.

Yes clear your cache. Quit all apps and.

Remove this fileC:\Windows\System32\FNTCACHE.DAT

or

Search and delete all Adobefnt*.lst files

Those letters are used by Multiple Master MM versions of fonts and the 90 is the weight/boldness. Keep an eye out for any Universe MM fonts that may have be conflicting with other fonts  or corrupting you cache.

Please report back about how the font cache clearing works, as I stopped working on windows so not entirely sure if that will work on Win 7.
