Using mouse with Illustrator on iPad Pro

Hi there. I'm starting to use Illustrator on my ipad Pro (iPad Air (4th geneartion), iPadOS version 17.11.  However when I move the mouse curser (grey cirlce on screen) to the edges of the screen to change the function i.e to click on the pen tool icon, as soon as I get near to the icon the iPad leaves the app and returns to the home page of my ipad. Its very annoying. How do I stop this. I've attached a video showing it happeneing below. I have Photoshop aswell on my iPad. On this I can run the grey cicrcle all the way around the edge and it stays on Photoshop, so I assume this is some sort of Illustrator error/pref?
