Using Transform Effect to duplicate text

Hi Community

I want to make duplicates of my text using the transform effect. So I can adjust the space I need closer or further away from each other. All works well, but its duplicating the same numeral. Is there a way I can use this tool, and be able to also edit my text? The only reason I used this method is, because its live and I can adjust the space if I need to change. the distance.
