Variable data linking to online images

Hi,
I can't find a solution for this, so I felt it might be best to ask.
When working with variable data. Is it possible to have a path that links to images online?
Everything works well when the images are on my system, but I would like to set it up so it can use images from Google Drive or even CC.
Is this even possible?
