Question

Vector graphic dimensions are massive on import

When I import a vector graphic (purchased from Adobe Stock) using the Place function, it initially appears as a preview that is quite small. When accept it however it appears (or a least the small part of it visible on the page) absolutely massive such that I cant even find the resizing handles -- Its driving me crackers so any help would be very welcome - Thank you so much

RadC,

My guess is that you can look at the size in terms of W and H in the Transform panel, and then reduce the size to a desirable value (set); you can just change either the W or H value and Ctrl/Cmd+Enter to keep proportions; you can change to a specific number or use a suitable divison (insert / and the reduction factor) or multiplication (insert * and the (much smaller) inverse reduction factor); either can give the nicest values.

Thanks. But I'm still not clear why vector files (svg) import ar such large dimensions in the first place

SVG files can be created by several applications. In this case probably someone made it in Inkscape. On Stock websites you never know which kind of knowledge the contributors had. And Adobe Stock started out with some heavy load of already existing files. Maybe they check the uploaded files better now, but they didn't check what already was in stock.

Are you importing via File > Place or from the library?

What kind of file is it?

And what's in it?

Yes. It's an svg file
