I created design for a t - shirt with a mix of images and text . I need to submit it to the shirt company as a vector. .  I created it in Ps with a transparent background, but opening into Ai and used the trace option, a white background remains. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Image trace may create too many anchor point. If you drew the artwork with shapes in PS, then copy and paste the paths as Michael said. The text will need to be retyped or copied — don’t rely on ImageTrace for text. The white background can be deleted.

ImageTrace creates a group, so double-click to work inside the group or ungroup.

It is also possible to copy and paste vector paths between Photoshop and Illustrator.

You can also make transparent your design in Ps.before importing into Ai.

Look for the "Ignore White" option within Image Trace in Illustrator. You might need to open the Advanced section at the bottom of the panel.
