Vertex not snapping to edge of my object

I need to set the top right of this barcode to X:0 and Y:0 but the vertex is not snapping. It is only snapping parts within the barcode.
How do I fix this please?

If I understood correctly, place guides where you want anything to snap to. 

 

or you could also use the Transform Panel and key in the exact X, Y coordinates
