Hi There,

First time poster.

iMac (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015)

4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7

32 GB 1867 MHz DDR3

AMD Radeon R9 M395X 4 GB
Usually very fast but just recently everything is laggy and sticky. There seems to be a one second lag with every move I Make. Any suggestions on how to fix would be loved and adorned! 🙂

Hi @Dr.Vector,

Thanks for reaching out, and welcome to the Illustrator community! Sorry to hear you're experiencing lag issues.

Could you let me know which version of macOS you're running? Also, just to confirm, are you currently on the latest Illustrator 29.5 version or referring to a different release?

It would really help if you could explain a bit more about the lag. Does it happen while performing a specific task, using a certain tool or effect, or does it occur consistently across the app?

In the meantime, try disabling GPU Performance by going to Illustrator > Preferences > GPU Performance to see if that improves responsiveness. Also, try resetting Illustrator preferences once. Make sure to back up your preferences before resetting. You can refer to this article for help: How to set preferences in Illustrator.

Additionally, please check out the steps in this article to help optimize Illustrator performance: Optimize performance of Illustrator & Fix issues when using a Wacom device. Let me know if that helps improve things.

If the issue persists, sharing a short screen recording of the lag behavior would be great. That will help us get a better understanding and flag it to the team if needed.

Looking forward to your update!

Abhishek
