visible grid / scale questions

Hey Everyone,

This is a grid / scaling question. I know I can adjust the rulers and units to inch and feet. I know that I can get a grid using the rectangular grid tool. What i can't find is the preferences for the tool. The artwork is a layout and I need to make it scalable. The actually size is 1500 feet x 1500 feet. I sharnk it down to 15ft x 15 ft. I'd like to put a grid of either 5ft x 5ft square, but how for some it keeps giving me 6x6. Maybe I have to a grid within a grid?

Ideas?

Mike,

The Dividers in a Rectangular Grid are inner lines, and together with the outer bounding lines of the grid they form the boundaries of the squares/rectangles in the grid, so the number of dividers in each direction is always one less the number of squares/rectangles in that direction.

So if you actually mean "I'd like to put a grid of either 5 x 5 squares, but how for some it keeps giving me 6x6.",

when you write "I'd like to put a grid of either 5ft x 5ft square, but how for some it keeps giving me 6x6.",

in other words number of squares in the grid rather than size of square in feet,

you can just reduce the number of dividers from 5 to 4.

You can simply click (don't drag) on ​​the artboard with the Rectangular Grid Tool, a window will open where you can configure sizes and divisions. Once accepted, these changes remain for the next grids you draw in this file.
