Weird behaviour with use of outline pathfinder tool

Hi, here I am using an expanded series of circles and text to create lines in my text, but when using the outline pathfinder tool I am getting these strange triangular sections of line which I don't want. Can anyone tell me what is happening here?

This looks like it could be a result of your computer's incompatibility with GPU Performance. Try disabling the feature in your Illustrator preferences in the Performance section.

    Try View > Preview on CPU.
