What is the Preferred File Type for Me to Import to My Project?

I'm creating a scene where I will need to use theater drapes that I got from Adobe Stock.

Photo (jpg) is attached. I only want to use the drapes and valance. 

I will need resize, scale, etc.

I'm a newbie to Ai.

That has been generated by AI, so it's a pixel image. If you want to enlarge it, you might have to use specific enlarging software that can enlarge it better (possibly based on AI as well).

Then when you only need certain parts, you have to select that, which is a job for Photoshop.
