What's happening with Montserrat?

Is there any on-going issue with the Montserrat font family?
It is not listed on CC that it is expiring anytime soon, but I've been getting some weird issues on AI, with some of the variants of the font not showing on the list (ex. Bold, Semibold, but the italic versions are there).
Today I had to uninstall and reinstall the font twice...
Oddly enough, the font seems to work perfectly fine on InDesign.
I'm running on a 2024 iMac with the latest Sequoia OS. All Adobe apps up to date.
Anyone?

Hey there
In this specific case, the use of the Adobe CC version is requirable.
I'm working remotely with an agency and Montserrat is the main font used by a specific brand, and this is a job worked simultaneously by different people, so having the same font across the board is necessary to avoid issues.
No one else down the pipeline has been having this issue, just me...
Anyway, I already realized this is not a consistent issue. Some days it happens, some days it doesn't.

Are there any connection issues with your Internet setup? Does your computer have a VPN running? It's possible for fonts synced via Adobe Fonts to disappear in either scenario. I'd also look at other applications or utilities running in the background.

A couple of other common troubleshooting measures you can try: Deleting the font data cache and making the computer re-build it. Logging out of the CC account, rebooting the computer and logging back into the CC account again.

Visually speaking, there is nothing different between the version of Montserrat carried at Adobe Fonts and the version at Google Fonts. It's possible the build version of the font files could be different. However, I wouldn't have both installed at the same time. Just one or the other. If everyone in your team is using Montserrat from Adobe Fonts it's probably best to stick with that if possible.

@DaddyDoom it's working for me, meaning it does show up in Adobe Fonts:

Maybe, there is a conflict with Google's Montserrat?

Have you tried testing the static and variable versions of Montserrat that can be downloaded at the Google Fonts web site? I think the Font Squirrel web site still has an older, yet stable build of the type family.

Periodically, I've seen strange issues with fonts from Google Fonts. Some styles would come up missing in the font menu. Or there would be worse issues seen in other applications, such as CorelDRAW making all styles of the typeface look like Arial. Sometimes the version build of the typeface offered at Adobe Fonts would work correctly while the build at Google Fonts would be flaky. Or the problem could go the opposite direction. And there could be issues between the static and variable font files.

I think Google needs to do a more thorough job testing the fonts it offers in various applications to make sure they work properly. Sometimes they'll update the font files. There are times where I have gone back months later (or longer) to download a type family that was acting buggy and find the new download of font files to work correctly.

Third party font management apps can also affect how fonts operate. I think the font manager built into CorelDRAW is a source of problems. In previous versions of Illustrator I would see a number of different type families have missing styles in the font menu if CorelDRAW was running in the background. When I closed both applications and re-launched Illustrator all the missing font styles would be restored in the menu. In the last couple or so builds of Illustrator that issue has apparently disappeared. I don't know if that is due to changes made by Adobe or updates Microsoft made to Windows.
