Question

When dragging a point with the direct select tool, I can snap the point to other points EXCEPT FOR points directly next to my selected point on the path.

I used to be able to drag a point with the direct select tool and snap it to other points directly next to my selected point on the path it lives on. After recent updates, I can only snap my selected point to other points not directly next to my selected point.

This isn’t a snap to grid issue or tolerance issue. Snapping works fine when dragging my point to any point that’s not directly next to my selected point.

Additionally, other snapping that used to work fine now does not work at all. For example, snapping a point to a line… Something about the recent updates have jacked up snapping.

Does this affect only that one file? What about a brand new file?

Have you tried Reset Preferences (found in General Preferences)? Often resettings prefs fixed weird issues.

    Hi @AustinMonroe,

Sorry to hear about the snapping issue with the Direct Selection tool in Illustrator. To help us investigate, could you share:

    1. Your Illustrator version (found under Help > About Illustrator)
    2. A brief screen recording of your workflow and the problem
    3. A view of your snap settings (either in the recording or as a separate screenshot)

You can upload the recording to Google Drive, Dropbox, or similar and share a public link here or via DM. Once we have these, we'll dig in further.

    Looking forward to your update.
