Question

When I make a shape like a box? Need help Newbie.

I see on videos how I can select the shape, (like a box/square), and then drag the corners to make the shape larger. In my illustrator, when I select I don't see a box or corners to click on and make larger. I have to do common/shift and use the greater/lesser key. Is it something I set in illustrator setting to select and see a box around the shape?

Thanx in advance?

There is an older discussion here with some details: Suddenly can't see anchor point and handles of paths.

The issue was with CMND + H which hides the edges but your situation is likely resolved Like Monika suggested by turning on the bounding box in the view menu. It is a common issue with Photoshop users who hide their selections with the same hot keys.

Also if you know what size you want the rectangle you can double click on the dartboard with the rectangle tool and it will give you options for an exact size.

Select with the black Selection tool (not the white Direct Selection tool).

Try View > Show bounding box
