When will HEIC files from the iPhone be supported in Illustrator?

Come on, people, it's borderline pathetic! Why is there no all-across-apps support for HEIC files in CC-Apps?

I just tried to place some photos in HEIC format from my iPhone, just to learn, that ILLUSTRATOR does not recognize the file format…

I KNOW that I can open them in PREVIEW or even LIGHTROOM to CONVERT them, but how hard can it be to use the HEIC-importer from LIGHTROOM across all the CC-Apps?

I am delighted to inform you that the Illustrator 2022 update has one of the most requested features. Now you can open or place High Efficiency Image Format (HEIF/HEIC) files in Illustrator.

I am on version 26.0.2 of Illustrator an it won't recognize or open or place HEIC files.

Is there a work around I can use to convert said files to use them?

Sorry to hear about your experience. I am able to open/ place the HEIC file in Illustrator v26.0.2 without any issues. I would request you to share the download link of these HEIC images. We'll check them at our end.
