White Background On Paste To Ai

Process:  In Photoshop, I am using the wand tool and select subject to isolate an image that is on a background.

Problem: When I copy/paste the image I just isolated with the wand back in to Ps, it comes in image only with no background. The way I want it.

But.....When I copy and paste it in to Ai, it brings a large white background with it.  I need it in Ai.

Summary: The wand and selection process is working fine so long as I am cop/pasting in Ps.  It is not working when I paste into Ai as it is bringing a background with it.

Can anyone think of why this may be happening?

Instead of Copy/Paste, save the Photoshop file and in Illustrator use File > Place.

    Yup. That did it.

It surly would be nice if the copy/paste worked as it works when I send it to my office mate.  But, this will have to do I suppose unless you can think of some other magic.

    Thank you.

This has been an enhancement request for eons, and Adobe still hasn't addressed it.

Odd, because our marketing person uses the Apple version and he is able to copy paste.  I am on the windows version and cannot.

Thank you so much for making the time to help me.
