White Bcakground when Creating a Mockup

When I am trying to use the Mockup tool, I will place an image and then place the Vector Logo on top, select both items, and ask Illustrator to CREATE MOCKUP.  When the mockup is created, Illustrator is putting a white box behind the vector file, on top of the image. See attached images

It happens with most logos, I tried the copy and paste save a new file, I have tried different hat images.  I tried updating illustrator.  I can't figure this out.

Hi @august_witt,

Thanks for the update and for sharing the details. I tested this on my end and noticed that the white background appears specifically when using EPS or JPG logos in the Mockup tool. This happens because these formats don't preserve transparency, so when Illustrator rasterizes them during the mockup process, a solid white box gets added behind the artwork.

To fix this, try opening your logo in Illustrator and saving it as an AI or SVG file with a transparent background before creating the mockup. These formats maintain proper transparency, so your logo should blend smoothly with the image without any white background appearing.

Please give this a try and let me know if it resolves the issue.

Hi @august_witt,

Thanks for sharing the screenshots. Could you check if the vector artwork has a white background included in it. Before creating the mockup, try selecting the logo and checking in the Layers panel or Appearance panel if there's a filled rectangle behind it. If so, remove that background or make sure the logo is saved with a transparent background before using it in the mockup tool.

Please give this a try and let me know if you’re still seeing the white box appear.

Looking forward to your update.

See my new screenshot. I moved the artwork off of the Artboard and it does not appear to have a background.  The layer window is in the screenshot as well.  I am new to layers, so I am not sure other than taking screenshots.

Hello @august_witt,

Thanks for sharing the details. Could you also share a link to a sample file after uploading it to a file-sharing service, so we can investigate further? We are unable to replicate this problem on our end.

Looking forward to hearing from you.
