This to me seems to be such an integral no brainer that it tends to speak more to Adobe's failing to remember it's roots, and the shift to empowering us with a host of "cool but not universally required" functions in lieu of remembering their bread and butter - solutions that were integrated and based on an understanding of the core user needs. I don't need a fancy curve tool, as intriguing as it is - what I do need is the ability to quickly and effectively execute on common tasks. For Adobe to have instilled in our design processes a belief that their suite of tools was integrated, encourage and condition us to use these features, and then arbitrarily remove them, rendering certain functions mute or needlessly cumbersome - speaks more to a focus on being the next cool company - and not the most user driven one. In short, I don't care how amazing the icing is if the cake itself is sub-standard.

This is not a fix, but it's a good way to go around the problem.

Just save your Ai file as CS6 or below, and to to import on fireworks File > import.

    There you go!

    Hope it helps!

If you want to ixport your linked images to fireworks, just check the "include linked files" in Ilustrator save options, when saving your AI file.

Save all elements your want to paste in Fireworks  on a Illustrator cc file and than you save it as an Illustrator cs6 file, now you open this file straight from fireworks and it's all done! magic just happened!

This is the best workaround for the time being.  I really hope Adobe either fixes this bug to make everyones life easier, or better yet creates a Fireworks CC.

Not sure if this helps anyone but when copying and pasting from Illustrator to Fireworks - the items you're copying must be within the Illustrator page boundaries. So if you're working with an Illustrator file with an A4 page size and the items copied are from outside of the A4 page edges they'll copy OK but won't be there when you paste into Fireworks, even though Fireworks thinks it has been pasted. Not sure if this is the case for CC as I don't have it yet, but it may help some people who (like me) use the default size Illustrator page to build files.

Have the same problem.. Not cool, Adobe.

If you want to persuade people to switch from Fireworks to Photoshop, do so by clearly demonstrating the advantages. Save the sabotage game, please.

Yep, is mid November and STILL this does not work. If you were stupid enough (like me) to upgrade to Adobe Illustrator CC and are stupid enough (like me) to still want to use Adobe Fireworks CS6 then, unless I am mistaken (always possible!), it seems there is now no way to get an Illustrator vector image into Fireworks (it used to work OK with Illustrator CS6). I do not want to have to find/get a third party app, or to downgrade, to allow what should work to work.

Yes, I know you want me to use Photoshop CC instead of Fireworks. I don't want to right now. I don't have time for the learning curve. Maybe I will in the future, but not now.

You are happy enough to have my money (and quite a bit of it) and to continue getting my money (and I have already cancelled one CC subscription because of how you dropped Fireworks). Whatever else you are planning, breaking product interoperability is just a fail.

    Fix it.

NB: I would normally be much more polite and also say "please", but  after this has not been fixed for so long and you are such a large company my pure frustration has got the better of me.

This is really shameful, and upsetting! I can't believe there has been no fix or comment from Adobe since so long...

You need to fix this Adobe & while you're at it you should just bring Fireworks to CC, thank you for being so resonable.

This problem is enough for me to keep using Illustrator CS. I just now removed the CC icon from my dock and put CS back in its place. Adobe Fail.
