Why can't Illustrator see my MacOS Colours palette?

Every other app on my Mac allows me to navigate to and use my Mac OS Colours palette — even Microsoft apps! Why won't Illustrator allow me to use these colours (which I already use in Keynote; Powerpoint; Pages; Word; etc.)? Why doesn't Abobe respect the Mac OS Colours interface element?

Illustrator is heroically unintuitive and overcomplicated enough. Please, Adobe, don't make me have to recreate all my colours just because you refuse to update your 1996-UX software!
