Question

Why does one CMYK Illustrator file print differently from other similar files exported with the same settings?

Software: Adobe Illustrator. Color mode: CMYK. Export: EPS/JPG. Printer: Mimaki JV300-160 Plus (2 heads), default profile. Similar files print differently, but one file shows a different result. What causes this issue, and how can I fix it?

Do the two art files have the same exact kinds of elements (same color fills, effects, etc.)?

If the artwork from the file printing differently comes from another source, such as a RGB file, that could be a culprit. If the artwork has any transparency effects that could also be an issue. EPS does not natively support any fills or effects that involve transparency. PDF does support transparency. Issues with transparency get compounded if artwork was originally designed in RGB yet brought into a CMYK environment.

Are you using RasterLink Pro as the RIP to control the Mimaki printer? Or are you using a different RIP?

@Esha do they have the same color profile? You can check the profile when choosing Edit > Assign Profile.
