Why does this application over-optimise SVG paths so badly that they become unusable?

Finally figured out that it was this software responsible for deforming our SVG content.

 

For reference, note the original artwork supplied by client:

Once the original SVG file that appears as above is ingested into adobe illustrator and then exported again as an svg file with no other amends made, this is what we are left with.

Deformation of the curves is clear.

 

Why is this application doing this? There is no settings feature that anyone can find to stop or at least limit this behaviour.
