Why Don't Certain Menu Options Record as Actions?

Hi,

I do a lot of stuff repeatedly, and would like to record actions for these task, but a lot of them Ai won't allow it.

For instance I'd love to be able to have Select > All, and then, Object > Fit to Artwork bounds as an action, but the Fit to Artwork bounds doesn't record.  I've come across other instances like this - it's so frustrating.

Any ideas for work arounds or if I'm doing something wrong greatly appreciated.

Paul.

You may apply the Fit to Artboard command via the Insert Menu Item command that is located in the Actions palette flyout menu.

Holy Mother of God Kurt that is awesome.  I never knew that functionality existed.  Thanks a million.

Your question is justified nonetheless. For example, a lot of Palette menu items can still not be recorded and the Insert Menu Item command won't help in that case.

Unfortunately, Illustrator is not as versatile as Photoshop when it comes to record actions. In Photoshop virtually everything is actionable. Not so in Illustrator.
