Why has illustrator lost the minus pen tool?

It's function changes when I'm trying to just delete points on a path really frustrating.

Before there was a dedicated minus pen tool.

Is there a solution.

    One possible reason is that it’s too easy to drag and drop tools into other groups in 2019. Click the ... at the bottom of the tools panel. In the next panel that opens, go to the menu and confirm that you are using Advanced, then Reset Advanced to show all of your tools.

    If you change your workspace to Essential Classics in the upper right corner, Illustrator should show the tools more like what you're used to seeing.
